RMCRHA  March 15th, 2011 at 4:32AM
Game One was a back and forth game from start to finish. Metro was able to score first almost halfway through the first period with Sean DeHerrera receiving a feed from Kyle Brooks. CSU scored almost three minutes later with a goal from Joe Gale. The rest of the tallies would alternate teams until the end of regulation when the score was 5-5.  Overtime was dominated in shots by CSU 8-4. Just past the halfway point in OT, brothers Tommy and Bobby Derian from Metro State were able to pull out the overtime game-winning goal, with a pass from Tommy to Bobby, to take the series lead, 1-0.
Game Two started with a lop-sided first period effort by CSU over Metro. CSU took a 2-0 lead into the second period. Metro scored to get on the board to make the score 2-1. CSU tallied the next goal to make it a 3-1 game. In the last minute of the period, Metro and CSU would alternate goals to end the second with a score of 4-2.  The third period did not start well for Metro. It took CSU only 14 seconds to net a goal and make the score 5-2. The shots in the third period were won by Metro, as was the scoring. But the effort wasn't enough from Metro and the game would end up with a 5-4 win for CSU.
With the series tied 1-1, this matchup would end with a rough, exciting Game Three. This game would bring some adversity for Metro. In the first period, Metro would lose one of their second line scorers in Kyle Brooks. After getting knocked into his own crease, he would leave the game with an unspecified shoulder injury. At the end of the first period, the score would be 1-0 for CSU.  Metro put out a great effort in the second period with goals from Cody Lemon and Tommy Derian to take the game lead 2-1 whilst still getting beaten in shots on goal.  The third period belonged to CSU. They tallied the only goal just one minute into the third period.
For the second time in the series, a game would go into overtime. Just over a minute into the extra period, Bobby Derian would receive a pass from defenseman Ross Mesenbrink and roof the seriesiwinning goal over goalie Dan Felderman's shoulder to take the series and the RMCRHA Division I title.
Metro will attend the Collegiate Roller Hockey Championships for the club's third year in a row, and their first National showing in Division I.
