San Jose, CA - Tyler Walser scored three goals, including the
game-tying and game-winning goals to lead Buffalo into the Final Four.
Buffalo
came into the game expected to win big, expect Central Florida had
other things planned. Colin Lasatar scored the opening goal of the
contest, with a pass from the stick of Rick Garcia to give the Knights
an early 1-0 lead. The talented Wings from Buffalo didn't panic and
soon found themselves tied when Alex Durinka scored of an Alex Christie
pass to tie things up. Buffalo then took the lead when star forward
Tyler Walser found the back of the net, with Alex Christie picking up
his second assist of the game.
The second period was a
defensive struggle and talk around the rink was that of a Buffalo
upset. Central Florida fired nine shots on goal in the frame and
Buffalo had eight of their own but neither team was able to find the
back of the net and the game entered the final period tied at 2-2.
Danny
Caudy found Joseph LoRocco on the power play to give Central Florida
the lead with their second conseuctive goal early in the third period
and many people thought Buffalo was done. Defenseman Shaun Golden made
something happen to change the tone of the game when he found Tyler
Walser, who buried the punch into the net with a surgeons touch to tie
the game with plenty of time remaining. Halfway through the third
period, Walser once again found the back of the net, this time on the
man advantage to give Buffalo the lead for good at 4-3.
Chris
Kendall added an emptynetter and Chris McNeil scored on the power play
in the wanning moments of the third to finish off the scoring and send
Buffalo away with a 6-3 victory and a berth in the Final Four.
Buffalo will square off with Arizona State this evening with a berth in the national championship game on the line.
